Performing Arts at Grace Mission International School Ujjain

The performing arts play an important role in enriching students’ lives at our international school in Ujjain. Taking part in theatre or music is a powerful way for young people to express themselves, explore the human condition, learn new skills and make friends, so we encourage all our students to get involved.

Drama and Theatre

Our Drama curriculum has been developed to suit the individual needs and interests of our students. We offer a range of activities both within and outside of the classroom environment.

Through participation in theatre, we encourage all our students to be actively involved in the exploration and enactment of human experience through the dramatic process. The subject inspires individuals to become inquisitive and knowledgeable about the world around them, encouraging them to become responsible global citizens.

Studying Drama also develops an appreciation of theatre as an art form and gives students the opportunity to build up skills in this area, promoting group work, imagination, and creativity. The drama also makes a significant contribution to students’ abilities as speakers and listeners, thereby ensuring they become confident communicators.

Music

Our Music curriculum, developed in collaboration with the world-renowned School, aims to provide an exciting, stimulating and progressive music education for your child. This happens both within and outside of the music curriculum. The abilities and knowledge that your child will gain are something they can cherish for life and continue to develop way past their school years, enhancing their appreciation for creativity and improving their confidence, even as they cultivate many other transferable, key skills.

In Key Stage 3 your child’s music lessons become project-based. The projects we offer are progressive and therefore build upon each other over the course of three years. They include Music for Film, World Music, The Blues, and Pop Music.

Instruments are used as a ‘tool’ to help young musicians learn about the vast world of music. The program also includes other activities such as composition, group work, listening skills, analysis, and appreciation.

The instruments we offer are:

  • Violin
  • Cello
  • Flute
  • Clarinet
  • Recorder
  • Trumpet

Our students can also explore their artistic interests outside of the classroom with a number of performing arts clubs and activities for all ages included in our selection of extracurricular activities.
